Matthew Mendis, Managing Director and Founder

Matthew S. Mendis has over 27 years of experience in development, financing and implementation of alternative energy and energy efficiency projects. Over the span of his career he has been responsible for advising and assisting a wide range of international donor agencies, governments and private companies in financially engineering clean energy investments amounting to over $500 million.  Matthew has worked on clean energy investments in the US and over 45 countries around the globe.  Throughout this process he has developed a deep understanding of the opportunities for financial leveraging and challenges associated with the implementation of clean energy and emission reduction projects.  More recently, Matthew has helped identify and develop a range of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and other climate change-related projects.  Prior to co-founding C-Quest Capital, Matthew was Corporate Vice President of International Resources Group, Ltd. (IRG) and Director of its Energy and Environmental Management Division.  He was responsible for quadrupling the revenues of the division over his seven-year tenure.  In 1991 Matthew founded a private company, Alternative Energy Development, Inc., focused on developing clean energy and climate change projects, which he merged with IRG in 2001.  From 1983-1991, Matthew worked at the World Bank promoting the Bank’s investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and was instrumental in designing the first large-scale renewable energy loan to India.  From 1994-99, he directed the ALGAS Project for the Asian Development Bank which encompassed 11 Asian countries and identified over 80 GHG mitigation opportunities, the majority of which were projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency.  Matthew currently serves as Chairman and Trustee for Global Village Energy Partnership (GVEP) International. Matthew holds a BSc in Environmental Engineering and a MA in Natural Resource Economics from the University of Maryland.
